Bio: With over 20 years of experience in the automation industry, David McPhail has applied his knowledge to developing a toolkit approach to automating machines. Previous to investing in Memex, he was the founder of a premier systems integrator in North America. Mr. McPhail’s extensive industry knowledge, contacts and engineering talent allow uparalleled machine control integration, shop floor to top floor.
Speaker: John Turner, Director of Technology - FA Consulting and Technology
Bio: John Turner was one of the team members at the start of the development of MTConnect and has spent his entire career in the field of industrial automation, machine tools and control technologies. Mr. Turner spent more than 30 years with GE and GE Fanuc Automation in a wide variety of management roles in sales, marketing, product development and operations.
While at GE Fanuc, he was a member of the AMT Technical Issues Committee from 2007 – 2009. He has also been a member of the MTConnect Technical Advisory Board since 2007. Mr. Turner’s team developed and deployed the first commercially available MTConnect Agent/Adapter called mi-Link. Additionally, he was previously Vice President of Engineering and COO for CimWorks, a subsidiary of GE Fanuc Automation, providing hardware and software solutions for the Statistical Process Control (SPC Quality) market.
In 2009, Mr. Turner formed FAC&T where he applies his knowledge and expertise to advancing the state of manufacturing technology specializing in the area of shop floor productivity.
He is responsible for overseeing and driving committee activities of the MTConnect Technical Advisory Group and the drafting of changes to the standard.
